SIMCom was invited to attend the IVC together with OEMs, part suppliers, communication operators, intelligent on-board equipment manufacturers, system integrators, auto industry-related government sectors, car connectivity consortiums and college research institutes. In order to be closer to auto-related enterprises, SIMCom set up an onsite booth to talk with customers and provide product demonstrations.
One issue of particular Interest was that SIMCom and CECport jointly exhibited a customized Tbox development board. Its features are listed below:
1. Adopts I.MX8QXP main control chips to support Linux & Android 8.0 operating systems
2. Dual-channel megabit/gigabit high speed Ethernet interface incorporating in-vehicle high-speed transmission data
3. Uses 3G/2G DDR4/DDR3 technologies to support 32G EMMC ultra-large capacity data storage space
4 Uses SIM7600CE 4G module to support access to network via iPhone SE data
5. Supports access to GPS + Gsensor and WIFI/BT modules
6. Supports multichannel CAN/UART/I2C/SPI connection interfaces with the possibility to extend connection with more peripherals
7. Supports 4-channel HD 720P camera inputs used for 360 panoramic system
8. Supports 3-channel USB host, dual sound card in/out and dual LVDS/mipi large screen display
Intellectualization and networking have become a developing trend for the auto industry, which in turn has made the automotive electronics market grow more quickly. According to the forecast of HIS, the famous American consulting company, the global automotive electronics market will be worth nearly 300 billion US Dollars by 2020, proving that the market has considerable room for growth. In terms of products, automotive electronics products have been mainly applied to automobile power systems, chassis and car bodies in the last 10 years. Such products will show core differences in the next 10 years due to their main application in cabin electronics systems and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Early overall deployment by complete vehicle enterprises, part manufacturers and Internet companies is resulting in more and more types of vehicles with in-vehicle infotainment systems, car networking modules and other cabin electronics products. Cabin electronics are required to cater for continuous upgrading of automotive electronics consumption by ongoing improvement in man-machine interaction, in-vehicle infotainment and other aspects. As a wireless communication module supplier, SIMCom is committed to providing car owners with a stable connection and a great user experience. At the conference, it was an honor for SIMCom to discuss with main machine manufacturers and first-tier suppliers the main technologies for the next three years and the existing restraints limiting the quick application of intelligent cabins.
Automotive cabin electronics products are characterized by digitization, integration and platformization. SIMCom’s wireless communication modules are core parts in remote vehicle-mounted communication terminals and are the connecting point between vehicles and networks, in order to enhance the user experience. Without them, car-related on-board applications cannot be connected to the Internet, meaning that car networking cannot be achieved. In the future, with the application of Mobile Edge Computing in car networking and 5G networks, it will be possible to store car networking data in locations closer to vehicles. This will reduce time delay, enhance communication reliability, provide real time data analysis, and enable quick transmission of the analysis results to other networked cars nearby for decision-making.
